Housed in a landmark historic church and parish house in Boston’s South End, the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts has served as the cultural hub for Latino visual and performing arts for over 20 years. Offering a wide breadth of programming to the community, the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts is a true cultural icon. Villa Victoria Center for the Arts received a $5000 award in recognition of its participation in the Partners in Preservation 2009 initiative.
What is the historical significance of this site?
A part of the South End Landmarks District and the South End Historic District, the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts has served as the cultural hub for Latino visual and performing arts for over 20 years. The center is housed in the former All-Saints Lutheran Church and parish house. Today, the transformed structures have become a state of the art community arts center that welcome thousands of people through their doors each year to see a rich variety of nearly 90 events and offer affordable, accessible, and culturally relevant programming to the community.
What is the current use of the site?
The Villa Victoria Center for the Arts offers performances, exhibits and classes in: Latin jazz, folk dance and music, poetry, theater and visual arts. The center also offers arts education for low-income teens, free matinees to elementary students and hosts the Boston Children's Chorus at Villa Victoria.
