About the Schooner Adventure The Schooner Adventure is an icon of America’s fishing industry and Gloucester’s 386-year heritage as America’s oldest fishing port. Currently in the final stages of restoration, the 122-foot wooden schooner plans to serve the community as a floating classroom for marine environmental education. The Schooner Adventure received a $5000 award in recognition of its participation in the Partners in Preservation 2009 initiative.
